Oregon Yellow Rail and Black Swift

Southern Oregon Trip
On June 7 and 8 Steve and Sybil Kohl and myself went on a trip to find Black Swift and Yellow Rail in Oregon. These are very local species in Oregon and are usually relatively easy to find at the traditional locations. In the case of the rail it is usually heard but rarely seen.
On June 7 at approximately 7:30 pm we saw the Yellow Rail in Fort Klamath at the Kimball historical marker. A single bird flew up and was relocated in the short grass. Great looks were enjoyed as we watched the bird through the scope for about 4 minutes.
On June 8 we went to Salt Creek Falls near Crescent Lake Oregon. We arrived at about 8:00 am. After waiting for about 20 minutes we saw 4 birds flying around the area.
